How to Add a Block Above the Dynamic Block on Corporate or Location Pages in Blocks
Hello and welcome to this Blocks tutorial. Today, we're going to show you how to add a block above the dynamic block that appears on certain pages. To begin, click on the “Pages” tab on the left. This will display all the pages on your site. Look for the homepage—we’ll use that as our starting point.
Just below the placeholder for the header, you'll see a dynamic block.
To understand how this looks on the live site, go to the homepage of the Kloset demo site. When you scroll down below the header image, the first visible block is the dynamic block. This block is used to display the closest storage locations based on the zip code of the site visitor.
You'll also find dynamic blocks on location pages. Go back to the Pages section, and at the top, click on “Location Pages.” This will bring up all the location-specific pages on your site. Let’s open the Zionsville location as an example. Here, you'll see a dynamic block placeholder representing the unit inventory information pulled from your facility management software (FMS), such as SSM.
Below the dynamic block, you may already have additional content blocks. To see what this looks like live, visit the Zionsville page on the site. You’ll see the inventory displayed where the dynamic block is, followed by the other content blocks beneath it.
Now, let’s talk about how to add a block *above* the dynamic block. While this isn't something you’ll need to do often, there are scenarios where it’s useful—like promoting a seasonal offer, event, or special announcement that you want visitors to see right away. To do this, click “Add Block” just as you would for any new section, but this time make sure to check the box that places the new block above the dynamic one.
Once added, the new block will appear above the dynamic block placeholder. Let’s say it's close to Christmas and you’re hosting a toy drive. Click “Edit Block,” scroll to the list of block types, and choose one suited for an image you’ve already designed.
Select the appropriate image, enter alt text for accessibility and SEO, choose a background color that complements your image—black, in this example—and click “Save Block.”
Now your new toy drive block appears above the unit inventory. Click “Publish,” confirm the changes, and refresh the live page. As you scroll down, you’ll see the new block positioned above the dynamic block, exactly where you wanted it.
This process can be used with any type of block available in the system. Whether it’s an image-left/text-right block, a full-width image with text overlay, or even a blog block, you can position any of them above the dynamic content area if needed.
