Adding Blocks to a Location Page

How to Add, Copy, and Customize Content Blocks on Location Pages Using the Blocks Editor

Hello and welcome to another Blocks tutorial. Today, we're going to teach you how to add new blocks or information to an existing location page.

When you log into your Blocks account, this is where you manage all the pages on your website—including your homepage, careers page, and location pages. On the left-hand side, you'll see an option for "Locations."How to Add a Block to a location page_10

However, clicking on that takes you to the Location Information or Integration section, which is not where you add blocks. That section is used for entering details like your location’s address, phone number, email, office and access hours, amenities, and location photo. It's also where you can add new locations to your portfolio. How to Add a Block to a location page_20

To add blocks, you’ll want to click on the “Pages” tab instead. This is where you can manage, add, or edit any of the pages on your site—everything from your homepage to your "Our Story" page, storage types, and location pages. How to Add a Block to a location page_50

At the top, you'll see a tab labeled “Location Pages.” The difference is that "Corporate Pages" includes your standard pages like the homepage and "Contact Us," while "Location Pages" lets you manage the information specific to each location page as it appears on the site. How to Add a Block to a location page_40

For example, if we look at the location page for Plainfield Storage, you’ll see a header image, location info, and unit inventory. How to Add a Block to a location page_60

As you scroll down, you'll notice additional content blocks like location photos and a parallax-style block with background images and text. How to Add a Block to a location page_70

If you compare that to a location like Zionsville, you'll see that it’s missing those extra blocks. So let’s go back to the Pages view, click on “Pages” in the left-hand menu, and then “Location Pages” at the top.

First, open the Plainfield location and also open the Zionsville location in separate tabs. We'll begin with Zionsville and create a new draft. You’ll notice that the only content currently displayed is the header image placeholder and a dynamic block showing unit inventory. How to Add a Block to a location page_80

To add the extra content seen on the Plainfield page, go to the editing view for Plainfield. Below its dynamic block, you’ll see the two extra blocks used for visual content. How to Add a Block to a location page_90

To reuse these blocks, click the copy icon on the left of each block. Then switch over to the Zionsville tab, refresh the page so the paste option appears, and paste the copied block. How to Add a Block to a location page_100

Scroll to the bottom of the Zionsville page to confirm it has been added. Repeat the process for the second block. Once both blocks are added, you’ll want to customize them. For example, you can click “Edit Block” and replace "Plainfield" with "Zionsville." Some blocks have multiple text fields, and unused ones might display dummy text, which you can remove or replace. How to Add a Block to a location page_110

After editing, click “Save” at the top. Now your changes are saved, and the page reflects the correct location information. If you want to change any other content, like the state or features, simply edit the corresponding block.

If you're adding a completely new block (not copying from another page), click “Add Block” at the top, then “Add Block Row.” How to Add a Block to a location page_120

Scroll to the bottom of the page and choose the type of block you want to use. Clicking into it will bring up the “Skeleton View,” where you can choose from various layout options like “Text Left, Image Right,” “Image Left, Text Right,” a three-column block, or full-width text blocks with or without a background image. There’s also an option to add a custom block with a pre-designed image containing text. How to Add a Block to a location page_130

To give you an idea of what’s possible with these blocks, we can look at a customer page from Avid Storage. Their location page features similar elements—basic info at the top, followed by a sequence of content blocks like a location photo with a headline, a text-and-image combo, a background-colored text block, and a three-column layout. These blocks not only make the page more visually engaging and user-friendly, but they also boost SEO by giving Google more information about your location. How to Add a Block to a location page_140     How to Add a Block to a location page_150Before you finish editing, be sure to delete any placeholder blocks you didn’t use. And remember, your changes won’t appear on the live site until you click “Publish” and then confirm by selecting “Yes, Publish Changes.”How to Add a Block to a location page_170

If we go back to the Zionsville page and refresh it, you’ll now see that the new blocks have been added beneath the inventory section. It’s really that simple. If you have any questions, please let us know, and be sure to check out our other helpful how-to tutorials.
