How to Improve Your SEO Score in Blocks Using Keywords, Alt Tags, and Optimized Content Blocks
Hello and welcome to this tutorial on how to utilize the SEO Optimizer in Blocks. When you first log in, you'll land on the dashboard. To begin, click on the "Pages" tab, which will bring up a list of all the pages currently on your website.
You can scroll through the list or type a keyword to quickly locate the page you're looking for.
For this demonstration, we’ll open a page called Kloset Story on our Kloset Storage demo site—note that this is not a real company. As you scroll through the page, you’ll notice several existing blocks. The current SEO score for this page is three out of five, and the reason it’s already at three is that the blocks on the page contain text that search engines like Google can read and index.
To provide a comparison, let’s take a look at the Contact Us page. This page only has a dynamic block and no additional content, so its SEO score is zero out of five. This is typical for any new page before blocks are added. As you begin adding blocks that include text, your SEO score will start to rise.
Back on the Kloset Story page, the first and most obvious improvement you can make is to add your SEO keywords and SEO description. Once those are entered, save the page.
You'll see the SEO score jump from three to four out of five. A score of four is already very strong—it’s difficult to reach five out of five without adding even more text blocks.
To further enhance your SEO, there are still additional actions you can take. For example, check the alt tags on your images. Scroll down to a block such as the "Image Left, Text Right" block and click on “Edit Block,” then “Edit Image.” If the alt tag field is empty, be sure to enter a short description, as alt tags contribute to your SEO score. After confirming or editing the tag, upload the image again and save the block. Repeat this process for other images on the page to ensure all of them have relevant alt text.
Once you've reviewed and updated all the alt tags, you've done just about everything you can to maximize the SEO score on the page—short of adding more content blocks. On content-heavy pages, like a blog post specifically aimed at SEO, it’s a good idea to add multiple text blocks depending on the length of the content. For standard pages, however, adding excessive text may result in diminishing returns. In those cases, a four out of five SEO score is more than sufficient.
