Inventory View Enhancements

The biggest update in this session is the new hybrid view overview for your inventory. We rebuilt the layout to be cleaner and easier to scan, so the information your customers care about is front and center — and the controls you need are right where you'd expect them.

If you've used the inventory view before, the good news is that nothing you know goes out the window. The webinar walks through where things have moved and how to navigate the new layout, so you can keep making updates without missing a beat. These changes came straight from customer feedback, so if you've ever wished a part of the inventory view worked a little differently, there's a good chance you'll see it here.

Promotional Graphics

Promo graphics are one of the fastest ways to draw attention to a deal — when they're used well. The session covers how to put different promotional graphics to work across your website, and how to write promo messages that are clear, compelling, and actually move people toward a rental.

You'll also see how discounts and special offers can be integrated directly into the inventory view, so your promotions show up exactly where customers are already looking.

Image and Video Guidelines

Great-looking pages start with great assets — and fast ones. This portion of the webinar shares our updated guidelines for images and video, including:

  • Image sizes: Stick to the recommended dimensions for visuals that stay crisp and consistent from page to page.
  • Embedding video: How to add video to your site the right way so it plays smoothly for visitors.
  • File types: Choosing the optimal file formats to keep load times quick — because every extra second of loading is a chance for a visitor to bounce.

Following these guidelines keeps your site looking polished and performing fast, which is good for both your customers and your search rankings.

Here's what changed and how it works:

  • The right-hand column is gone. The old map-and-hours column on the right has been removed so customers stay focused on choosing a unit.
  • Hours are now collapsible. Click Access Hours or Office Hours to expand them in place — no navigating away, and it works great on mobile.
  • Maps link straight to Google Maps. When a customer clicks the location, it opens directly in Google Maps (in the app on mobile or the browser on desktop) for quick directions.
  • Click to call or email. Tapping the phone number starts a call, and the email link routes to the catch-all email you've set for that location.
  • Filtering stays intact. The unit filtering dropdown is still there, driven by the settings in SSM.
  • Discounts are featured. If you have a discount turned on for a specific unit, it now shows up in a featured area (for example, "50% off first month" or "second month free").
  • Better for mobile. Unit overviews were resized to add vertical space, so customers see more units at once. The layout reflows from a side-by-side view on larger screens down to a clean vertical stack on mobile.

How to Edit Unit Attributes in SSM

Attributes are the little feature callouts that appear on each unit (think "climate controlled," "drive-up access," or even a custom message). They're set by you in SSM, and the new layout gives them a more prominent home on your inventory pages. The preset SSM icons have been overridden with checkboxes, so you have more freedom to add what you want. The only rule: each attribute must be 24 characters or less, including spaces and special characters.

Step 1: Create the attribute in SSM

  1. In SSM, click Facility, then click Attributes.
  2. You'll see a list of attributes you've already created. To make a new one, click Create Attribute.
  3. Enter an ID number. It has to be a number you haven't used before.
  4. Enter a description of 24 characters or less (for example, "Premium Powered Location").
  5. Choose an icon. One is required even though the new layout overrides it with a checkbox.
  6. Click Save. Your new attribute will now appear in the sortable list.

Step 2: Assign the attribute to a unit type

  1. Click Back to return home, then go into Facility Info.
  2. Choose the location you want to update, then choose Type to see all the unit types for that location.
  3. Select a unit type. This is the same screen where you manage pricing — your attributes live here too.
  4. Click into the attributes field to open the dropdown, then select the attribute you created. (Longer names wrap, so scroll within the field if you don't see it right away.)
  5. Click Save. You'll get a confirmation message when it's done.

Step 3: Check it on your site

Open the location page on your live website and refresh — your new attribute will appear on that unit type.

Good to know:

  • You can add up to six attributes per unit.
  • If you haven't used attributes before, this area will look blank in the new layout until you add some.
  • The field is open text, so operators get creative with it — using it for announcements or value-adds like "free box with rental." Just remember the 24-character limit.

How to Add a Promo Graphic

Promo graphics are an easy, often-underused way to call out specials right on your location pages — a "now open," a seasonal deal, a "new expansion available," or your own custom icon. They're especially valuable for organic visitors who find you by searching rather than through an ad. Here's how to add one:

  1. Open the Blocks editor for the location you want to update.
  2. Find the small upload box on the location's edit screen.
  3. Click to choose a file you've designed and upload it from your computer.
  4. Click Save. The graphic will appear on the page.

Your promo shows up in two places: on the location page itself, and on your location listing before a visitor clicks into that location.

Image tip: Use a square image. We recommend a minimum of 640×640 pixels, ideally 1080×1080, with compression turned on so it loads fast.

Image & Video Guidelines (Bonus)

Wondering what size to make your images so they don't end up skewed or mismatched? There's a dedicated cheat sheet in the Knowledge Base under Blocks → Content Editing → "Image and Video Guidelines for your Blocks Website." You can also search for it or ask Edward in the chat. A few highlights from the session:

  • Standard images: 1600×900 or 1800×1000 — the same standard sizes you'll see across the web and social.
  • Slider blocks: 600×340.
  • Three-column (icon) blocks: square images.
  • File types: Use SVG for icons and WebP for photos. These modern formats keep file sizes tiny and pages loading fast while still looking sharp.

To embed a video (for example, a YouTube or Vimeo video), edit the block, switch into View HTML mode, and paste in the embed code. It will automatically fit the space. We recommend hosting the video on YouTube or Vimeo and embedding it rather than uploading it directly
